Yay! No Surgery for Campbell!

Good news! The vet called at the end of the day today, just as I was walking out the door. He said he went over Cam's x rays with a fine tooth comb, and he is confident her ACL is intact and she does not need surgery! Woo-hoo! Yay, Cami! He did find a small spur on the tip of her tibia, but he's not too concerned about it and doesn't feel it needs to be removed!

Happiness in the Sweeney household!

Campbell Update

Okay....we're in a bit of a holding pattern with Cami. I met with one of the vets on her treatment team and she said that Cam's hip x-rays look beautiful. However, with very little effort, the vet was able to pop Campbell's hips right out of their sockets. That's not a good thing. In looking at her left knee, which seems to be the source of her discomfort, we would the patella tendon to be intact, and a small amount of inflammation in the knee joint. A large amount would have indicated a full rupture of the ACL. It looks like it could be a partial rupture.

So I'm waiting to speak with Dr. Voynick about our course of treatment. We could be in a "wait and see" mode or we could be looking at ACL surgery. Poor Cams....it's never easy for her.

St. Francis....Please Protect Cami

Our girl, Campbell, is having some troubles. John and I took her to the doctor last night, and he's quite certain she has some extensive damage in her left knee, possibly a torn ACL. The doctor is concerned about her left hip as well, and he uttered those terrible words, "hip dysplasia." Cami will be going into the hospital tomorrow for tests and x rays, and those results will dictate our course of treatment. Currently, she is on very limited activity, which is just killing her. She so wants to go outside and run and jump with her sister, Barrett. Bari is sad as well, since her little partner in crime is laid up and not able to play.

I'm going to need to alter my schedule to be able to leash walk Cami in the mornings. She is not even two and is so full of energy. It's going to be difficult keeping her calm for so long, but we'll do whatever is best for our girl. I purchased glow in the dark collars and leashes today, so at least we'll be visible at 5:30 in the morning during our walks!

If you wouldn't mind, please ask St. Francis to watch over Cami. I love her so very much and want her to heal and be a happy and healthy girl again.

The Big Bagel Debacle

OK, so this falls into my "WTF?" as well as Hera's "Who Does That?" catagories.

Let me set the scene: I work in a nice office with nice people. As with all workplaces, there is always one person (or maybe two) who really get on your nerves. For the most part, our office gets along really well and is not a terrible place to come to every day. However, there is one person who seems to get under people's skin. We'll call him.....Bob (this individual's name has not been changed in an effort to humiliate him for the asshat he is). Bob is a decent enough guy, but he's annoying. Aside from the nervous braying he does after every sentance, he's very nosy and lacks in social manners.

Each morning, Bob and 4 other individuals on the "management team" *hilarious laughter* get together in the front conference room to discuss new and on-going projects. These meetings usually last a couple of hours, and, as yet, no one outside of the "management team" has really been able to see any benefit of having them. But that's a whole other issue pertaining to the lack of focus and complete ineptitude of certain individuals who partake in the circle jerk club-oh, excuse me, "management meeting." The participants in this meeting have their lunches ordered, paid for, and delivered to their desks everyday. Not a bad deal. The participants usually order a salad or sandwich, sometimes a soda, but for the most part are careful not to be excessive with their orders. Bob, on the other hand, orders 3 sandwiches at a time. It's not yet known if Bob suffers from a tapeworm, or if he's just so damn cheap he hoards the food then brings it home to have for supper. If Bob is going to be out of the office during lunch, he is always sure to call in his order so he can eat it later or save it for dinner. It's not like the guy can't afford to buy a meal. God forbid he doesn't get his free lunch.

So the other morning, right after the "management meeting" started, our insurance broker stopped in the office to go over some materials pertaining to our insurance plans. As he always does, Bernie brought with him a big bag of bagels and assorted cream cheeses to adorn said bagels. This is really quite nice of Bernie and we all appreciate it. Bernie always brings enough for the entire office and is sure to get certain types of bagels as he knows everyone's favorites. As he always does, Bernie sets out the bagels and cream cheeses in the accounting department and goes about saying hello to everyone in the office.

Shortly after bagel touchdown, and before anyone gets a chance to help themselves, Bob gets up out of the conference room and leaves the "veryimportantmanagementmeeting" and comes into accounting. He grabs the entire bag of bagels and all the cream cheese and absconds with the goods back into the conference room. Bob puts the huge bag of bagels on the confernce room table to share with the four other people in the room, all of whom have already had breakfast. Bob shoves down a couple of bagels, but the rest stay on the table until lunchtime, completely wasted as no one else was able to enjoy them.

Can you say assclown?

Hey Bob! WTF?! Who does that?

A Weekend In The Windy City

Well, OK. Not really The Windy City. However, sometimes it's easier to say I'm going to Chicago rather than explain to people the location of Chesterton, Indiana. For those not in the know, Chesterton is a fabulous little town that borders Lake Michigan. It also happens to be where my best friend, Ann, and her husband, Ken and son, Liam live. Not to mention, The Daisy Dog (at left). John and I just adore Daisy Girl. She's the sweetest little thing.

I had an action packed weekend with Ann, Ken, and Liam. After flying in Thursday night and sleeping like a rock until Friday morning, The Ross family and I set out for County Line Orchard in Hobart, IN. Liam had a great time picking apples, and I was the beneficiary of one of Ken's fabulous apple pies. Saturday morning found us up early and on our way to Liam's soccer game. It was so adorably cute. Liam's in the under 6 league, so we were watching some young, future Pele's! Liam's coach is a wonderful man who obvioulsy enjoys working with the youngins and has the patience of a saint. I wish I could bottle that patience!

After the game, Annie and I had some "girl time" and enjoyed lunch at Panera Bread, and a nice lounge on the beach. Ann is such an important part of my life. I just don't know what I would do without her. She's smart, beautiful, and funny. I get the added bonus of her taste in men, as Ken is just a super guy. After acquiring a little "pink" on the beach, Ann and I headed out for dinner, where we proceeded to consume some fabulous ribs and lots of vodka and cranberry! Later that evening, I watched the Mets clinch the NLDS by sweeping the Dodgers in 3 straight games. Altogether, a fabulous day!
Sunday found me a bit meloncholy as I knew I'd be leaving for New Jersey in jsut a few hours. Ann and I were, however, able to raise our spirits with a trip to DSW (Designer Shoe Warehouse). Sadly, we didn't find anything to suit our fancy, so we headed home for a few more cocktails and chatter. After saying goodbye to Ken, Liam, and Daisy-and clutching my "cosmo in a kids cup" to-go beverage-Ann and I headed off to the airport. We had a quick goodbye at the Departing Flights curb (quick is always the best way to go with me) and I was off. Fortunately, I will be seeing the Ross family soon as they are heading east for Thanksgiving.
